discount of £32.55 for taking dual fuel (both gas and electricity) and managing
the account online. | | Example
prices above are for the Eastern area (March 2011) using a standard credit meter.
Taking an Eastern local supplier customer with an estimated annual spend of £500,
paying quarterly by cheque. In using a yearly spend estimate we need to calculate
how much electricity this would purchase. - By
working on current tariffs above we estimate that £500 buys approximately
3382 kWh of electricity with the local supplier.
- 900
kWh @ 23.205 = £209.25 + 2482 kWh @ 11.7285 = £291.10. Total is £500.35
with exisiting supplier.

To
compare with Competitive Supplier, how much would the same amount of electricity
cost, we have used the Scottish Power Online energy saver 13 tariff, as it is
the cheapest available deal. (21st March 2008) - 900
kWh @ 15.0255 = £135.23 + 2482 kWh @ 9.8406p = £244.24. Total £379.47
saving £120.53. Also a further £32.55 is saved by taking dual fuel
from this supplier (gas and electricity) and managing the account on line..
The example gas
calculation shows the benefit of changing supplier and the extra savings achieved
by also selecting a sign up online tariff. Dual fuel calculations are a combination
of both utilities, with some companies providing an extra bonus - See
case study for a current dual fuel example.
