If
you are over 60 years of age and resident in the UK during a qualifying week in
the month of September then you may be entitled to at
the very least the minimum
winter fuel payment of £100. If you receive certain state benefits then
you will probably, if entitled, receive the
winter fuel payment automatically
prior to the Christmas of the qualifying year. But if you do not receive any state
benefits you may have to
make your claim directly, as the Department for
Work and Pensions may lapse in paying your your entitilement without a claim.
Even if you live abroad you may still be able to make a claim. If you had
been entitled to this payment in the past, and did not receive it,
you may
still be able to claim it in retrospect .
You can obtain a
copy of "Your Guide to Winter Fuel Payments" from most local Libraries
or by telephoning 0845 6065065.
